I’m excited to be featured on my friend Erin’s blog today! Erin is DIY maven behind Francois et Moi, and it’s been really fun to watch her blog and design accolades grow as time marches on. We first collaborated this summer, sharing some of our favorite Chicago-area and Minneapolis vintage shopping spots, and now we’re back with vintage shopping tips.
Below is my number one tip for shopping vintage. Head over to Erin’s post to read all my other tips on shopping vintage like a pro! Happy hunting!
#1 – Use Your Imagination: When it comes to vintage and thrifted furniture it’s almost impossible to find EXACTLY what you’re looking for right out of the gate at a good price point, so do your best to visualize. If the piece has good bones, but needs refinishing or new upholstery, do your best to see the potential and go for it. As Claire explains, “I use my imagination and don’t let dirt, tears, tarnish, broken glass or terrible upholstery stop me from buying anything I think I can transform into something better!”
