Inside the Making of Our French Wallpaper Collection

September 5, 2024

After a year in the making, we are thrilled to finally share our full wallpaper collection with heritage French wallpaper brand, Isidore Leroy. This is a pinch me moment! I’ve always loved how wallpaper can transform a room and designing this collection has been such a dream of mine. Talks of a wallpaper collection started back in the Spring of 2023, when we designed a men’s dressing room at the Lake Forest Showhouse. We fell in love with Isidore Leroy’s moody and romantic mural of Paris at night. Before long we were talking about what a collaboration could look like and traveling to France to meet in person. Now that we are LIVE, I’m so excited to give you a little background on the inspiration, process and share each paper- beyond the just the sneak peaks on Instagram.

My Inspiration for our Collection

I have always had a deep appreciation for European design, historical architecture and the fragile beauty that it exudes. While our “Mediterranean Reverie” collection traces back to the idyllic interiors of European homes, I wanted to infuse a fresh perspective, reimagining this rich tapestry through a modern lens. Think: forgotten chateaus, lush grounds, and untamed nature juxtaposed with the vibrant life of lemon trees climbing trellises.

The Creative Process with French Wallpaper Company, Isidore Leroy

One of the very best parts of this experience has been working with such talented artists. It’s incredible how they were able to bring my imagination to life- but even more stunning than I thought possible. My team met virtually with Isidore team and artists working on the papers weekly for months, reviewing sketches, colors, textures, scale, and so much more. I’ve learned so much and will be forever grateful for the thought and time put into the creative process.

Introducing the Mediterranean Reverie Collection

Without further adieu, here is the first look at our Mediterranean Reverie wallpaper collection! All papers come in several colors and can be completely customized to your space.

Boiserie Moderne

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, each panel reflects the intricate craftsmanship of centuries past, with a sleek and streamlined design that ensures a perfect fit for modern interiors. Inspired by our Chicago studio, I love the idea of bringing historical character to any room with this paper.

Paradis Perdu

Inspired by the enchanting allure of forgotten gardens and the lush landscapes, Paradis Perdu captures the essence of a botanical oasis, inviting you to wander and dream amidst a tapestry of delicate foliage. I’ve always had a love of the novel “Great Expectations” and this hand-painted paper has brought to life my dream imaginary garden.

Treillis

Inspired by the resurgence of trellis motifs in contemporary décor, this paper features a timeless trellis pattern adorned with vibrant lemons and delicate blooms. In case you missed it, we designed a trellis sunroom in last year’s House Beautiful Whole Home and when we began this collaboration with Isidore Leroy, I knew one of the papers needed to involve trellis.

Treillage, Bespoke

The Bespoke Treillage is a twist on the classic Trellis that adds architectural intrigue and personalized charm. This paper offers unique combinations of trellis elements and delicate lemon trees. This paper is going up in our Chicago studio in the next few weeks! Keep an eye out for photos of the transformation.

Rayure Coquillage

This paper combines the classic allure of shells with a modern twist, featuring a sophisticated repeat pattern infused with stripes and marble accents. This paper comes in a few variations, Rayure, Rayure Cameo, and of course Rayure Coquillage– all shown below.

Marbré de Venise

Originating from Japan and the Middle East, marbling has adorned historic books in Italy and France, showcasing its enduring relevance and timeless charm. I love how this paper can pair with the others in the collection and add movement to a room.

While it is so exciting to share this collection with you, it also feels vulnerable to unveil a project I’ve poured so much love into. Thank you for your support- it means so much. I hope these papers inspire you and make their way into your homes!
