Hello there! Super excited to tell you about an upcoming event that I am co-hosting. It’s my first workshop as Centered by Design, but I have a long career history of event organizing so you can trust me – it will be great! Lots of pretty eye candy, (i.e., tons of wallpaper samples), gorgeous flowers, treats and creative ladies. What could be better, right? I’ve partnered with some kind, fabulous and talented ladies to make this happen. Read the full event description below:
I also wanted to briefly share the inspiration behind this workshop. I was very taken with a photo I saw on Hygge & West’s blog (pictured below). It paired one of their new wallpapers and a stunning floral arrangement by Studio Choo. I read the full blog post, and was in LOVE with the idea of pairing florals and wallpaper for a fun and inspiring afternoon of design knowledge. Luckily, I have friends in the right places and a florist and wallpaper designer wanted to take part in the fun.

And here is the workshop description. I really hope you can make it if you’re in the Chicago area. Feel free to message me with any questions. And yes, flowers are pretty darn expensive! I hope to introduce you to new design ideas and sources, like the beautiful Calico wallpaper featured in these promo photos.

WALLFLOWER: A Floral and Interior Décor Workshop
Enjoy a curated afternoon full of flowers, wallpaper and design education. First, learn more about the art of flower arranging, and choose a wallpaper to inspire your color palette. Katie Brown of Art Farm Flowers will guide a discussion of scale, texture, color and advise on how to give that perfectly “un-done” touch to your arrangements. Next, Claire Staszak, of Centered by Design, will discuss unique ways to utilize wallpaper in your home and how to build design schemes around a central feature like wallpaper. Finally, Erin Minckley of Relativity Textiles will teach us all the basic how-to steps on measuring for, and installing wallpaper.
All participants will leave with their beautiful seasonal flower arrangement, vase and several wallpaper samples. There will also be an opportunity to style your arrangement for a professional photograph to use in your own portfolio/ social media.
