Boutique Hotels Fueling Our Inevitable Summer Wanderlust

June 13, 2024

If you’re reading this, I’ll assume you’re one of us. Those who want our homes to be perfectly designed and thoughtfully curated with that delicious scent of hotel lobbies. We work hard to make that happen for our clients, but there is something different about the wonder and relaxation of staying at an epic hotel. Now that it’s summer, my wanderlust is at an all-time high. The aspirational vacation content on social media doesn’t help! Dreamy locations aside, I’m scrolling to find the next incredible boutique hotel. I love staying in places that embrace the local aesthetic and culture. When the hotel embodies a sense of place, I love to take note of the motifs of the area and ask about the local craftspeople involved in the project. Today, I’m sharing some bucket list stays from our team and letting the photos do the talking.

Provence Poiriers

Straight out of a fairytale, this French stay is everything you could ask for.

Casa Rosada

I am dying to get to Summer Thornton Design’s Mexican masterpiece… and now I’m sure that you are too.

Ett Hem

This historic Stockholm townhouse was transformed into a hotel by interior designer, Ilse Crawford. The Scandinavian aesthetics and beauty of this hotel resonate with me.

Lakeshore Resort

Don’t underestimate summer in Northern Michigan. If you know, you know. I can’t think of a better place to spend July 4th.

The Proper Hotel, Downtown LA

The Proper Hotels never disappoint, but especially when Kelly Wearstler is behind it.

Peter & Paul

Their website says it best: “A historic church, school house, rectory, and convent, reborn.” I’m already picturing myself enjoying beignets on that yellow terrace.

The Shinola Hotel

I’m crushing on this boutique Detroit hotel- such a vibe!

Hotel Santa Caterina

Amalfi Coast > … everywhere? The magic of this place radiates through these photos.

PaliHouse, Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara holds a special place in our hearts. Known for its “funk zone” this hotel fits the bill.

Speaking of bucket lists- Should I add designing a hotel to mine?! Clearly, I feel inspired and I hope you do too. Save this post for when it’s time to plan your next trip!
